Following the Christmas festivities, Poole residents have taken almost 400 Christmas trees to Upton Country Park for recycling.
The trees were collected between 2 January and 10 January in a dedicated area of the car park at Upton Country Park.
Trees were chipped by Leisure Services staff and will be used to maintain the paths around Upton Country Park. By recycling the trees on site, the costs and environmental impact of transporting the trees from previous years have been significantly reduced.
Cllr Don Collier, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for the Environment, Borough of Poole, said: "We have had a tremendous response from residents to our appeal for Christmas trees and would like to thank all those who bought their tree to be recycled. All trees are being put to good use at Upton Country Park, reducing the carbon footprint of the council. Any resident who still wishes to recycle their tree can do so by taking it to either the Nuffield Household Waste and Recycling Centre or one of our Mobile Recycling Points."
The Nuffield Household Waste and Recycling Centre is open seven days a week from 8.30am – 4.30pm (last entry 4.15pm). Christmas trees can also be taken to one of the five Mobile Recycling Points at the following locations:
