Poole Museum invites anyone interested in learning more about the town’s fascinating buildings to a free workshop on Saturday 31 October 2009 between 10am and 3pm.
The workshop will be held in the historic Town Cellars, now the Poole History Centre, within Poole Museum. The event is being held to celebrate the Festival of Learning and the day will include an exclusive tour of some of the resources in the History Centre and guidance about how to use them.
Those who attend, working either singly or groups, will be able to create a portfolio about a building in the Old Town. People can choose from a number of options including medieval structures, Georgian mansions and Victorian warehouses. Staff will be on hand to help and there will be time to explore the old town for inspiration, so photographers please bring your cameras.
The workshop is free but numbers are limited so to book your place either visit Poole Museum or call 01202 262600.
Cllr Peter Adams, Cabinet Portfolio for Leisure and Culture, Borough of Poole, said: "This is a great opportunity for people to learn more about Poole’s fantastic buildings and also the facilities available in Poole History Centre. Poole has a wonderful heritage and days like this encourage people to discover more about the history of the area."
The day will give people a great opportunity to learn about resources available in Poole History Centre and develop their research skills.
