Local school children from years 4,5 & 6 are being given the opportunity to enter a new schools’ competition to help cats and kittens at Cats Protection and in turn raise awareness of its new Ferndown Homing Centre.
Children are being asked to submit a hand drawn painting or drawing and up to 100 words on what they imagine the cats’ home will look like. The winner will win a framed certificate for themselves and their school to display, a special Cats Protection goody bag and their school will also receive £50 of book tokens and a VIP behind the scenes tour of the new centre. The winning entry will be announced at the imminent opening of the Ferndown centre.
The new centre aims to bring a fresh approach to the way in which cats and kittens are adopted from the charity. The existing Cats Protection adoption centres take in unwanted cats and kittens and can spend an average of three weeks giving these cats the veterinary care, neutering, vaccinations and/or socialising that they need to ready them for re-homing before they meet the public. In contrast, the new Ferndown Homing Centre will only hold cats that are ready for re-homing and will have extended opening hours to make it easier and quicker for the public to adopt a cat from the charity.
Schools within a ten mile radius of the Ferndown Homing Centre are eligible to enter and all those who have submitted entries will be sent an invitation to attend the grand opening event (including staff, pupils, parents and friends).
