Broadstone Players Theatre Company are well into rehearsals for their annual Plays 'n Chips performances, where the audience is seated at tables, watches three one-act plays and enjoys a fish and chip supper in the interval.
This is a long standing event on the Broadstone calendar and is in its 28th year. It started off on a very small scale, over time increased to three evening performances and now, due to it's popularity, there are four evening performances and one matinee.
The matinee audience is not served fish and chips but rather a Dorset Cream Tea with cakes and scones, which is as popular as the plays themselves! There is also a raffle at each performance and a licensed bar in the evenings.
Broadstone Players make a point of encouraging new members and this year there will be five new actors making their Broadstone stage début.
Plays 'n Chips take place on Friday 31st August, Saturday 1st September, Friday 7th and Saturday 8th September at 7.30pm and the matinee is on Saturday 1st September at 2.15pm. All tickets are £10.50, including supper or afternoon tea.
All performances take place in Broadstone War Memorial Theatre in Tudor Road, Broadstone.
Tickets can be reserved for collection on the door by emailing [email protected] or phoning 01202 678449. They will also be on sale at Broadstone News and Wimborne Tourist Information Centre from 10th August.
Whilst the Players never announce what the plays will be in advance, suffice to say that those who love comedies and thrillers will not be disappointed!
