£20 Million for Hamworthy – And Your Voice Matters

There’s some very positive news for our local area this week.

Hamworthy West in Poole has been chosen for a major national improvement programme. Over the next 10 years, up to £20 million could be invested right into the heart of the community.

What Does This Mean for Hamworthy?

This funding is part of the government’s Pride in Place Programme, which focuses on helping communities grow, improve, and thrive.

The money could be used for a wide range of local projects, such as:

  • Improving high streets and local shops

  • Upgrading parks and green spaces

  • Creating better community facilities

  • Supporting young people with new activities

  • Offering training or local events

One of the best things about this programme is its flexibility. In simple terms, it means the money can be spent on what local people feel is most important.

A Plan Shaped by Local People

A new Neighbourhood Board will be set up to guide how the money is used. This group will include local residents, along with businesses, councillors, and community organisations.

They will work together to create a long-term plan for the next 10 years. This isn’t a quick fix - it’s about making lasting improvements that will benefit the area well into the future.

How You Can Get Involved

There will be opportunities for local people to have their say. Over the coming months, you may see:

  • Community events

  • Chances to share your ideas

  • Opportunities to apply to join the Neighbourhood Board

This is a real chance for residents to help shape the future of Hamworthy.

We’ll keep a close eye on any updates and let you know how you can get involved as soon as more details are announced.

In short: This is a welcome investment in the community - and a great opportunity for local people to make a difference.
