BCP Council is planning a major upgrade to both Poole Bridge and the Twin Sails Bridge. The improvements will help keep both bridges safe and working well for many years to come.
A total of £6 million has been set aside for this important work. The money will not come from local taxes. Instead, it comes from a special fund called the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) – a pot of money paid by property developers to help improve local areas.
What’s Happening?
Poole Bridge will be re-painted to stop it from rusting.
Twin Sails Bridge will get an upgrade to the lifting parts, making it more reliable.
This work is expected to start in 2026.
The council’s Cabinet has agreed to the plans, and the Full Council will review them soon.
