Sandbanks Chain Ferry to Stop Taking Cash

People using the Sandbanks Chain Ferry will soon need to pay by card or contactless only.

From 1 April, the ferry will no longer accept cash payments. This applies to everyone using the ferry, including pedestrians and cyclists.

The change is being introduced by the ferry operators and approved by the Department for Transport after a public review.

New Ferry Prices

At the same time, the cost of using the ferry will increase slightly.

Pedestrians, cyclists and motorbikes: £1.18 (was £1.00)

Cars, vans and minibuses: £6.26 (was £5.40)

Buses, coaches and goods vehicles: £12.52

Plan for Ferry Road

The ferry company had also suggested charging drivers to use Ferry Road in Studland to help reduce traffic in the area.

However, the government has decided not to introduce that charge at this time.
