Dorset Council has announced a series of road closures in the Upton area this April to carry out essential road repairs. While these repairs are necessary to keep our roads safe, they will affect travel and parking for a short time.
If you live on or travel through Dorchester Road, Poole Road, or Blandford Road North, please take a moment to look at these dates and times.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I still get to my house? Yes. The council aims to maintain access for residents. However, because the workers are laying new road surfaces, there may be short periods where you have to wait before you can drive in or out. If you have an urgent appointment, please speak to the "Chargehand" (the person in charge) on-site, and they will help you.
Where can I park? During the hours the road is closed, there is no on-street parking allowed. This is so the large machinery has room to work. Please ensure your car is moved to a side road or driveway before the closure starts. If a car is left on the road, it may be towed. You can park on the street again as soon as the road reopens each day/night.
What if there is an emergency? Emergency services (Ambulance, Fire, and Police) have been notified and will always be given access if they need to reach a property.
Is it safe to walk near the works? The council asks that you do not walk on the new road surface until it has cooled. The material is applied very hot and can stick to shoes or pets' paws. It usually takes about 2 to 4 hours to harden completely.
What if the weather is bad? Road surfacing requires dry weather. If it rains heavily, the work may be delayed.
