Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Named First 'Nature Towns' in the UK
Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole have been officially named the UK’s first ‘Nature Towns’.
This special title has been given by Natural England, the National Trust, and the National Lottery Heritage Fund. It recognises the great work being done to protect nature and make green spaces easier for everyone to enjoy.
What Makes Our Towns So Special?
Over 2,500 hectares of natural green space
More than 170 play areas for families
19 important nature sites, known as Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs)
Local councils and partners are working hard to protect these spaces so that they can be enjoyed today and by future generations.
